    LANXESS currently has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer looking to take the next step in their career!

     

    The Production Supervisor/Engineer, to be located in our Perth Amboy, NJ Chemical Manufacturing facility, will be responsible for maximizing operational performance from an EHS&S, Engineering, Quality, Productivity, Efficiency, Cost and Customer Service perspective to achieving business objectives. Drive a “Zero Incident” culture and act as a manufacturing lead through supervision of chemical operators. 

     

    This person will also drive manufacturing excellence initiatives, continuously improve quality through leadership/support of variation reduction initiatives, serve in a leadership capacity on the Perth Amboy plant Core Safety Team while providing Process Safety Management expertise.  This individual will work a day shift Monday-Friday schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure daily production requirements are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Ensure processes operate at optimum level in regards to quality and output.
    • General supervision; training and development of subordinates.
    • Analyze, modify and upgrade existing processes and procedures.
    • Assess safety and potential environmental impact of operating units.
    • Continually improve safety, efficiency and output of operating units.
    • Observe, measure, collect, and analyze process data.
    • Reduce variation of Key Performance Indicators to improve product performance.
    • Supervises the day-to-day operations for production to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements, including product integrity and production
    • Directs all related personnel actions, including final selection, training, performance appraisal, discipline, safety and grievance procedures in unionized environments
    • Investigates and responds to all safety, environmental, and other incidents involving production employees and ensures adherence to all rules, policies, practices and procedures
    • Recommends improvements in facilities, equipment and manpower utilization to improve product quality and productivity while lowering operational and maintenance costs
    • Conducts routine administrative work i.e., input SAP process orders, develops employee work schedules, vacation schedules, timecard approvals, training schedules, employee recognition, monitoring attendance, etc
    • Responsible for scheduling PM requirements, outages, turnaround and equipment overhaul so as not to negatively impact production. Includes the initiation of work orders, setting of priorities and planning and executing turnaround items
    • Works with engineering department to complete projects within the assigned units which includes participation on various teams working on product quality, productivity or improvements as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering Science required
    • 2+ Years of Process Engineering Experience
    • 5+ Years of Production Management/Supervision Experience
    • Excellent Leadership, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills
    • Working Knowledge of and Commitment to EHS&S Standards and Policies
    • Working Knowledge of Chemical Plant Processes, Equipment, Instrumentation & Controls
    • Strong time management, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP
    • Working knowledge of OSHA-PSM; MOC; ISO; LEAN
    • Use of statistical analysis tools such as Minitab a plus.
    • Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus
