    All Specialty Chemical companies rely on the work of their R&D team to continue to grow and innovate in a competitive industry.  With this in mind, LANXESS Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Chemist to join the team based at our East Hanover, NJ facility.

     

    The Senior Chemist in East Hanover, NJ will handle bench work at the plant while also handling troubleshooting and quality work.

    Responsibilities

    • Works independently, prioritizing project/work goals to achieve business needs. May need to develop own approaches to resolve problems.
    • Results achieved enhance the knowledge and capabilities of the business
    • Demonstrated command of technology area as evidenced by being able to apply extensive knowledge to efficiently arrive at innovative, non-obvious or particularly complex work product that has practical value to the company
    • Develops, proposes, and tests complex methodology for solutions to assigned projects
    • Makes recommendations based on his/her interpretation of data for fulfillment of the projects goals and understands potential impact to production and business
    • Technical presentations are an integral aspect of this position, both internal and external.
    • Plans own work to achieve assigned technical goals, creatively develops methodology to achieve them and is responsible for the relevance of work and the integrity of results
    • Leads small to moderate size projects involving collaboration with business unit, production, regulatory affairs, and customers
    • Provides guidance to Technicians, Chemists, and Sr. Chemists
    • Contributes to process improvement activities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biology is required, but an Advanced Degree(Masters/PhD) is preferred.
    • A minimum of 8-10 years of relatable experience
    • Knowledge of refinery test methods (ASTM methods for ICP, HPLC, FTIR elemental analysis, and wet chemistry) is required.
    • Knowledge and understanding of petroleum refinery processes.
    • Understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and its application in a laboratory.
    • Demonstrated ability to consult on analytical instrumentation and test methods, including method development.
    • SAP and PRISM experience is preferred.
    • Experience with Quality Systems such as AS9100 Rev D and ISO9001:2015 desired.
