    Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, (A Company of the Lanxess Group), is currently seeking an enthusiastic, adhering to and supporting our Environmental, Health and Safety policies in a fast paced, challenging operations environment. motivated, and talented individual for the position of Chemical Operator Technician in our Bromine Recovery Unit in El Dorado, Arkansas site located on Southfield Cutoff Road. Reporting to the Operation Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the operations and general maintenance for the BRU unit. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting process upsets while

    Responsibilities

      • Safe and efficient operation of the Bromine Recovery Unit unit by supporting and participating in all related projects
      • Work as part of the BRU Team operating the manufacturing unit
      • Cross Train on all operations within the unit
      • Ensure all Safety and Environmental policies are followed
      • Issue safe work permits, write work order requests and troubleshoot equipment problems
      • Follow good housekeeping practices
      • Operate and maintain air compressors, dryers, fresh water wells, disposal wells, process water treatment, and other duties as directed by Supervisor / Manager

     

    Qualifications

    • Must be able to pass Arkansas Department of Labor Boiler Operators license examination
    • High School Diploma or equivalent and Industrial Wage Certificate required
    • Two year Process Technology degree preferred
    • Ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously
    • Must be a team player
    • Good problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to work a twelve-hour rotating day/night shift and overtime as needed
    • Previous experience in operations is a plus
    • May require membership in Fire Brigade
    • Mechanical aptitude (working with pipe wrenches and tools needed for plant activities and minor maintenance)
    • Experience in operating a forklift or ability to learn
    • Participation in plant safety programs
    • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License
    • This is a safety sensitive position
