    The Project Engineer located at the Perth Amboy New Jersey plant bridges the boundaries between engineering and project management by leading the teams to safely and successfully complete projects within the defined timelines and requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs assignments often requiring the development of new or improved products, processes or techniques by analyzing and recommending problem solutions and process improvements to achieve production, safety and environmental goals
    • May provide direction in the planning of production including analyzing and implementing changes to the processes or operations to most efficiently utilize labor, materials and equipment as well as to reduce costs, increase production and conserve energy.
    • Ensure reliability and process safety of plant systems through leadership in HAZOPSs, MOCs, equipment upgrades, mechanical reliability projects. 
    • Works independently under general guidelines:
    • Primary Responsibilities:
    • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of new or improved products, processes or techniques
    • Independently identify and investigate moderate to complex   operating, safety or maintenance related issues and implement solutions or provide multiple potential solutions
    • Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products and equipment
    • Coordinates the planning, organization and implementation of engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates
    • Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials and complex coordination requirements
    • Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion
    • Coordinates implementation of design engineering solutions
    • May assist with determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design
    • Provides technical direction to project team members

    Qualifications

    Using experience and analytical skills, makes recommendations on project viability

     

    Demonstrated mastery of engineering area

     

    • Thorough “hands on knowledge” of all maintenance trade skills including mechanical equipment repair, piping , electrical and power supply, and process instrumentation
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong project management and problems solving skills
    • Process safety tools: PHA/HAZOPS, MOCs, PM programs, P&IDs
    • Demonstrated success in delivering world class manufacturing techniques, including ISO, Lean, Six Sigma, etc., in a High Performance Work Team environment
    • Strong knowledge and experience in implementing Process Safety Management, Management of Change requirements and Mechanical Integrity programs.
    • Strong computer skills: Windows Office Suite; Access; SAP
    • Bachelors Degree (Engineering- Chemical or Mechanical)
    • Six Sigma or Lean Certification
