    Responsibilities

     

    The focus of the Reliability Technician is to analyze and develop predictive (PdM) analysis methods for monitoring plant equipment and determining the reliability of process equipment.  The Reliability Technician utilizes these predictive (PdM) technologies to acquire and analyze data in order to determine the cost advantage of alternatives, develop action plans to comply with internal and external customer demands, and make recommendations for improvement in order to avoid failures, improve runtime, improve asset utilization, and increase OEE.  In addition,  the Reliability Technician prepares calculations, diagrams, charts, drawings, and other documentation using PdM software packages and writes a formal report based on the acquired data.  When failures do occur, the reliability technician conducts failure analysis of the equipment and investigates the failure in order to determine the root cause for the particular problem. Based on the root causes the technician makes recommendations for improvement considering the cost limitations, up/down time, repair costs, replacement costs, weight, size, and availability of materials and equipment in order to return the equipment to OEM specifications.  Other responsibilities include but are not limited to creating, updating, and/or modifying equipment information in SAP and other PdM software tools and Microsoft Office Suite applications.  The Reliability Technician works closely with all levels of the organization from operations technicians to senior management. 

     

     

    Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

    • Train Operations and Maintenance personnel in condition based predictive (PdM) technologies related to monitoring process equipment when call on to do so
    • Use predictive (PdM) technologies and test equipment in support of field data gathering related to the condition of key production equipment such as, but not limited to gear boxes, hydraulic systems, air compressors, pumps, tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, tanks, pressure vessels, relief protection devices, etc
    • Perform physical inspections of the key production equipment which may involve removing inspection plates, obtaining digital images, sampling the lubricants, recording any visible signs of wear and prepare formal reports
    • Assist in Root Cause Failure analysis (RCFA) and troubleshooting efforts in support of investigating, identifying, and eliminating the root cause of equipment failures and generate recommendations for improvement in order to improve runtime, AU and OEE
    • Create, update and maintain the CMMS (SAP) production equipment database files which includes equipment file building for existing, new or modified equipment, and build/update the equipment task instructions and equipment maintenance plans
    • Make recommendations for improvement and assist in designing and implementing process equipment changes to improve equipment runtime and OEE.
    • Reports to the Reliability Engineer when assigned, and the Mgr., Engineering Reliability when a Reliability Engineer is not assigned

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Minimum 2 years post high school education in related field or equivalent experience preferred
    • Minimum 5 years in maintenance organization in an industrial environment preferred
    • Experience working with predictive (PdM) technologies including, but not limited to vibration analyzers, ultrasonic devices, hand-held temperature profile and thermal imaging devices, and multi-channel acquisition systems
    • Strong math and algebra aptitude and be able to convert between different units of measure
    • Fundamental knowledge of signal processing and programming
    • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office suite and SAP Maintenance Module
    • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in groups to meet long-term goals
    • Possess troubleshooting skills and acumen
    • Commitment to Continuous Improvement, Work Excellence and Self-Learning
    • Ability to work with all levels of the organization including operators, engineers and managers to translate business needs into applications
    • If not presently certified NDT Level II, must be willing to travel in order to achieve NDT Level II certifications including API certifications as this is a Fixed Equipment Technician role.
