    Overview of Position:

    Provides direction and support to the maintenance group, leads the mechanical integrity and preventive maintenance programs for the plant. In addition, provides engineering support to the plant and manages small to medium-sized capital projects for the plant. Participates in process hazard reviews. Ensures proper creation and execution of management of change documents. This role may provide back-up coverage for other responsibilities, including management, safety and possibly some regulatory aspects.

    Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide ongoing direction, priorities and technical support to the maintenance group
    • Manage and improve the site preventive maintenance system in conjunction and collaboration with corporate resources
    • Manage and improve the site mechanical integrity system in conjunction and collaboration with corporate resources
    • Independently identify and investigate moderate to complex maintenance, safety or operational issues and implement solutions or provide multiple potential solutions
    • Selects appropriate engineering techniques to solve problems and makes design recommendations
    • Provide direction to mechanics, master mechanics, technicians, or contractors
    • Responsible for ensuring the successful execution and completion of projects within the budgeted time and cost constraints
    • Participates in defining engineering approaches and in planning and scheduling work
    • Plans own work to achieve assigned technical goals and is responsible for the relevance of work and the integrity or results
    • Participates in development of the site capital plan

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Capable of leading or coordinating technical and organizational aspects of projects
    • Able to independently assimilate new technology and apply to work procedures
    • Self-reliant and structured way of working
    • Able analyse data and situations, draw conclusions and make meaningful decisions
    • Good listening and communication skills
    • Previous maintenance management/supervisory experience highly preferred
    • Engineering degree required, Mechanical or Chemical Engineer preferred
    • Experience with SAP PM system preferred
    • Six Sigma or Lean Certification preferred
    • Ability to professionally work on higher management level after some years in that position
