    Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, (A Company of the LANXESS Group), currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced individual for the position of PSM Engineer for a three site facility located  in El Dorado, Arkansas. Reporting to the EHS&S Manager, the position will be responsible for adherence to OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations along with  support of other Environmental, Health and Safety policies in a fast paced, challenging chemical operations environment.  This position offer opportunities to participate and lead a 400+ employee site with multiple PSM covered processes toward achieving an  incident-free culture in El Dorado, AR.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Serve as the site’s Process Safety SME and oversee the site’s overall OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA’s Risk Management Plan obligations as well as internal LANXESS requirements to promote a culture that pursues our incident-free workplace vision
    • Establish continuous improvement processes to advance the site’s process safety initiatives
    • Represent the site in LANXESS process safety activities and initiatives
    • Coordinate, schedule, and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA’s) and ensure closure of actions
    • Review Management of Change (MOC) requests and oversee the performance and efficiency of the MOC process
    • Ensure the sizing and documentation of safety relief valves and rupture disks
    • Assist Maintenance with development and execution of Mechanical Integrity compliance, with emphasis on safety instrumentation systems and critical safety devices (i.e., pressure relief devices)
    • Coordinate, schedule, and participate on PSM compliance audits
    • Coordinate and ensure the accurate and efficient process safety related training to employees and contractor personnel is documented and effective
    • Assist in the conduct of and ensure thorough Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR’s) and Process Hazard Reviews (PHR’s) are appropriately executed and documented
    • Coordinate Facility Siting studies and ensure appropriate risk reduction actions are in place
    • Track and communicate open PHA, PSSR/PHR, MOC action items and process status
    • Participate on new process design and technical reviews
    • Ensure Process Safety Information (PSI), such as P&ID’s, Process flow diagrams, and equipment files are accurate and complete with compliance requirement
    • Assist in advancing process safety technical expertise and overall advancement of roles and responsibilities into front line and senior management
    • Interpret technical standards and RAGAGAP and ensure compliance with requirements and procedures are maintained
    • Lead the site’s Process Safety Committee to achieve continuous improvement in risk identification/reduction, and performance metrics
    • Ensure the site maintains a high level of process safety awareness by publishing alerts, interpreting trends and communicating shared-learnings across Lanxess
    • Lead and participate in incident  investigations to ensure accurate root cause(s)  and robust corrective actions are identified and  implemented
    • Develop/train in-house engineering and operations staff on PSM design and protective measures so that PSM practices become fully integrated as part of their area of responsibility in early design development and initiation of MOCs
    • Collect monthly incident, and near-miss data and compile incident trend analysis and support sharing/leveraging learnings throughout the organization
    • Travel to other Lanxess facilities and industry conference to share and learn best practices and share best practices with the El Dorado site

    Qualifications

    Qualifications Required:

    • B.S. Degree in Chemical or related Engineering degree
    • 3-5 years of PSM experience in the chemical/refining industry handling multiple OSHA and RMP covered processes
    • Demonstrated initiative, drive and passion for continual improvement in PSM performance.
    • Demonstrated excellent communications (verbal and written) and leadership skills, and able to simultaneously manage and complete multiple projects
